Addition’s to an existing single storey weatherboard home.

Located in central country Victoria the resultant form of the Majorca addition is in direct response to the extremes of climate & environment presented by its location. With summers of oppressively dry heat & winters of bone-chilling cold the need for this building to be able to adapt to its environment was of the utmost importance.

Ample sheltered outdoor areas & high-levels of natural ventilation arranged to capture & control prevailing breezes allow for comfortable living during summer, while strategically composed bodies of thermal mass, abundant solar access, open fire heating located centrally within the living space & modestly proportioned interior spaces capable of being isolated allow for a desirable winter living condition.

To further add to this building’s ‘green’ credentials, salvaged, recycled & re-claimed materials collected by the home’s owners shall form the greater part of the addition’s built fabric.
